CROCHET EASTER SCENE SET

It’s been a wild few months. Not to bore you with the details, but I’ve even experiencing some annoying (though non-life-threatening) health issues that have forced me to slow down (grrr!). Couple that with changes in Dallas’s schedule that now takes him away from home frequently and I find myself with drastically (like, chopped off at the knees) reduced time to design and crochet. This is temporary, but man, it’s feels like swimming through molasses right now.

For those reasons, I was unable to host a Nativity CAL in the fall of 2024, but I promised a “nativity adjacent” Easter project for 2025.

It may be in the 11th hour, but it happened.
Today our Crochet Easter Resurrection Scene Set has finally dropped!

This crochet Easter resurrection themed scene has been brewing in the back of my mind for a while now. It took a lot of pondering, brainstorming, and frogging to land here, but, phew, we made it.

This simple scene includes a backdrop tapestry that features the rising Sunday sun over a tomb in the side of a hill, a stone rolled away, and the two figures of Jesus and Mary.

ABOUT THIS CROCHET EASTER SET:

I felt it was important for me to include hands in this figure, which is different from how I designed the nativity figures.
It’s actually pretty easy to put together, you won’t have to sew arms onto your piece to make it work!

It turned out lovely and I am considering adding some alternations to the Nativity Pattern to includes a similar design for some of the figures.

As a reminder, all pattern purchases include future updates and additions, so if any pieces are added to this pattern at any time, you will receive an email with an updated copy.

WHAT YOU NEED:

Palette Yarn
Basic Stitch Yarn
3mm, 5mm Hooks
Washers
Polyfil
Wood board
Clips
Darning Needle

This crochet pattern calls for Palette yarn, which is the same yarn I used for the Rustic Nativity. If you’ve made the nativity, you probably have some colors in your stash you can use. The backdrop uses 5 colors, and it’s made with acrylic worsted, which would be easy to substitute if you can’t find Lion Brand Basic Stitch.

ADDITIONAL BACKDROP IDEA

Last year a teen in my neighborhood, Caleb, made and sold these beautiful carved tomb displays to raise money for his sports team. As I was unpacking it with my other Easter decor pieces, I dawned do me that it would also make a lovely backdrop for the figures.

Even though he can’t make one for you, I found a few options for you online, so perhaps you can find one as well!

Here are some choices from Etsy.
