Crochet Hatching Turtles
I have a crochet bucket list, have you? I probably won’t get to some of the items on my list until my kids are in school all day, but I’ve got one! I bought the pattern for these crochet hatching turtles last year, but I finally decided that this week was the week to finally make them. My kids have been champing at the bit to play with their new toys since they saw the pattern photos(they have been treasuring their crochet hatching dinosaurs and it warms my heart).

I have been swooning over these crochet hatching dinosaurs for a while now. I saw them on Facebook last year and they have been on my to-do list ever since. I am finally get around to making them for my kids, and I thought Easter was the perfect time. I was going to put them in their baskets, but who am I kidding? I crochet throughout the day, and they were bound to be curious about what I was making. I also avoided any awkward questions about how the Easter Bunny can or can’t crochet exactly like Mommy. Plus, they have been playing happily together for the last 2 hours with their new baby dinosaurs! It’s pretty darn cute.

Wow, the holiday came and went like a flash! I have been sitting on these adorable little creations since before Christmas and I am finally blogging about them halfway through January, yikes! I have had my eye on Animal Friends of Pica Pau for a while and I finally decided to buy myself this gorgeous book last November. When it came, I immediately opened it up and started flipping through the magical pages. My kids were extremely interested in these cute little animals, and I found myself telling them to pick an animal for me to make them for Christmas. Sis chose the cute crochet pink puppy, which isn’t pink in the book but I knew the color would speak to her little soul. The Boy chose the crochet Bat, specifically requesting that I don’t include the scarf, so I didn’t.
But I wanted to, dang it, I wanted to.
Quick-Stop Clutch: Modern Tapestry Crochet

Recently I’ve been dabbling a bit in tapestry crochet. I had some bright ideas that I wanted to try, but to be honest, I kinda felt like I was making it up as I went. Not surprisingly, my projects didn’t turn out as pretty as I had hoped. This isn’t a terrible method, but it’s a bit silly to reinvent the wheel when one already exists, don’t you think? I had the absolute pleasure of receiving this book, Modern Tapestry Crochet by Alessandra Hayden, and I admit, I was a bit intimidated to try it. Those motifs are beautiful but they look terribly complicated! However, after reading her very simple method for tapestry crochet, I realized it is not hard. Like, at all. Look at this gorgeous Quick-Stop Clutch.
Love it? Why, thank you, I made it.

Crochet Menorca Bag – A Review
This post is sponsored by We Are Knitters. All opinions are 100% my own!
Happy Friday friends! I just spent a very fun (but long) week in the mountains with a group of youth girls from my church. I must say, disconnecting from social media, giggling all night, and enjoying beautiful Mother Nature for five days was extremely refreshing. I took some projects with me and it was fun to get a few things finished. I especially loved how quickly and lovely my Menorca Bag worked up, a crochet kit by We Are Knitters. The color is fresh and pretty, and the texture of the bag is perfect.

Happy Friday friends! Today brings a moment of triumph as I stepped outside my comfort zone and completed this Chunky Diagonal Weave Hat, designed by the very talented Jennifer Dougherty. Isn’t that weave texture marvelous?! I was given an opportunity to review her brand spankin’ new book Crochet Style, and was so pleased to give her patterns a try. The book includes over 30 patterns, each contains sizing for the whole family, and each made with amazing textures like this one! There are several more projects I intend to make in the near future. Plus, Sis would look adorable in a toddler size.
Crocheted Pocket Scarf
This post is sponsored by Hobby Lobby. All opinions are 100% mine!
I love living in my rural small town. We have just enough conveniences to feel like we aren’t missing out, but still have a lovely small-town feel. I admit, I prefer the city with its hustle and bustle and things to do everywhere, all the time, but we are definitely happy here. That being said, we don’t have a Hobby Lobby, which is not great. When we lived in Arizona several years ago, there was a Hobby Lobby down the street and I was very happy to spend a lot of time there (hubby –not so much). When they contacted me about trying out their Yarn Bee line of yarn, I was exited (to say the least) to have an excuse to make a special trip to Hobby Lobby in “the big city”. This yarn worked out perfectly for my new Crocheted Pocket Scarf. Can’t wait to try it out when we go look at Christmas lights next week!

Hello everyone! As August says its last goodbyes, I have been brainstorming fall and winter crochet ideas like crazy. Even though I love designing, I still enjoy working other designers’ patterns as well. One pattern that has really been on my mind is Fibi the Fox, a Lalylala doll. Lalylala has some gorgeous patterns, but the crochet fox really caught my eye so I gave it a try.
Crochet Yoda Amigurumi
Social media can be so awesome.
Star Wars Day, May the 4th,( be with you) is an awesome pun that was starting in the UK in 1979 (you guys are so punny!), but due to social media has become a globally observed holiday.
One of these years I am going to go all out; I will plan a party, have a movie marathon in the backyard, and make lots of themed snacks and desserts. I swear I will share every detail with you.
But for this year, I went small and made this adorable crochet Yoda amigurumi.
