Happy weekend friends! Today brings a pattern that I have been working on for a few weeks, which is crazy because they work up so quickly, only 4 rounds! To be fair, my original design idea was a slipper boot (which IS coming in a few weeks), but halfway through I thought they looked cute as low-top slippers. So today’s pattern is Women’s Quick and Cozy Crochet Slippers.

Crochet Slipper Construction:
Before sewing on the tongue, I highly recommend sewing a fleece sole liner onto the bottom of the slippers. I realized this was needed after I completed mine and walked around in them for a while. This yarn is really soft, but the stitches are so large that it can be less than comfortable to walk in them on hard floors. You can make a pattern using the unfinished slipper. I simply laid the slipper onto the fleece and cut around it. It doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to fit inside. I used two layers for extra comfort!
Then, using medium weight yarn and sharp darning needle, sew a running stitch around it, tacking it in place.
Once the sole is in place, you can sew the tongue onto the shoe.
Line up the tongue and start on the left side. Pull a loop through.
Slip stitch around the toe, sewing the tongue in place. It can be helpful to pin the tongue in place as your slip stitching around so it doesn’t get sewn on lopsided. Keep in mind, you aren’t working through stitches on the tongue, you just need to find any loop or space and use that.
Once the tongue is place, continue slip stitching around the slipper until you reach where you started.
Weave in your ends and slide your feet into your new cozy crochet slippers!
You have FOUND your weekend project. Have a crocheting weekend!
Cheers!
Would it be possible to give a simple remedy to make this pattern wider? I found it extremely narrow.
Yep, you can make the circle toe larger, do another increase row, make sure you increase by 6 sts. Then make sure to adjust the bottom to be a bit wider when you start the turning rows.
It really blesses me that you would reply and be so helpful. Thank you. I am not sure I know what you mean by the circle toe, but I assume it means the top end of the sole and refers to the directions after #2 and before #3. Once I get back into working the pattern I will try to figure it out. I would assume the tongue would have to be widened as well, but that would be easier to figure out.
Oh Sandra! I am so sorry, I somehow misread which pattern you were referring to. Please disregard my first comment. For this slipper, working the second round of the sole in a DC stitch might do the trick, to make it bit wider. Feel free to send me a photo, send to Bethany (at) whistleandivy (dot) com
Love the design pattern looks simple thank you Mrs. Dearden for sharing… fleas thibga are doing better ( sleep deprived) 🤗
Oops!! I meant glad things are getting better ( sleep deprived) 🤗
Hi love your pattern but I don’t understand what you mean by third loop? Thanks
The third loop is the loop on the back of the stitch, behind the two loops on the top.
It’s soo beautiful
Thank you!
Bethany …. I finished this slipper pattern …. the back are too low … do you think if I repeat the 4th row a few times it would look good and hang on to the heel of my foot???? Thank you.
Lisa
You can! Maybe start with one time and see if that makes it tall enough for you.
Thank you! I must have strange heels because it’s really low!!! lol
Did you work DC around the heel?
I don’t really care for these particular slippers but I love the idea of lining them…like an insole…Thank you so much for that suggestions. Sometimes having your feet on the crocheted part of the sole is hard on the feet and this ling will definitely do the trick as far as making them much more comfie.
Love this pattern! Thanks for sharing it!
I just have one small correction to add: On round 2 for all of the sizes, you forgot to say to join at the end.
(I had to stop and think about whether this was intentional or not on my first run through the pattern, and concluded that I’d have a pretty big gap if I tried to continuously work into the next round instead of joining first. :)
Thank you for letting me know! (in such a kind manner) I appreciate it!
Thank you for the pattern! I did these tonight and love them! They don’t take a lot of yarn. :)
You are welcome! Glad you love them!
where is the video? not sure if i should be working in the round or back and forth?
I don’t have a video for this pattern. It is worked in the round.
perfect! thank you!! i will try it :)
Hi there,
Are the sizes UK or US sizes?
Thanks!
They are US women shoe sizing
Love these slippers, do you have a pattern for kids sizes?
Hello!
Thank you for such great patterns, videos, etc. I have been making blankets this summer from this yarn and am so excited to try this pattern. I’m not sure what “work in the 3rd loop” means at the beginning of row 3.
Thank you,
Cheryle
Hi Cheryle! You are very welcome! The third loop is the loop on the back of the stitch, not the two on top. It makes the stitches go upward giving you a nice angle where the sole meets the side.
Thank you so much!!
Bethany …. for the “work in back loop”, is that for the entire 3rd row??? For row 4; do you go back to working the two loops on top???? Thank you!
Yes! Just for the 3rd round. God back to both loops for round 4.
I need pattern for size 11. How can I get that??
You can add 1 -2 chains on your foundation to achieve larger sizes. I haven’t specifically written this free pattern with a size that large, sorry!
How many chains would you do to make a size 10 or 11?
You would go up one ch for each size.
Thank you!
Question
Size 9
Sole:
Shouldn’t row 3 have a (44) st count instead of a (42) st. count?
Love your free pattern, and they are for sure quick and easy to make…
thank you
YES! Thank you for catching that!
I’m confused on the first row of the slippers. If I’m chaining 14 for size 8 the stitches called for are more than 14? Am I missing something?
Thanks!
Lori

Yes, you are working around the ch, up one side and down the other.
Soft cozy slipper pattern looks great but makes no sense. 1st row sole ends Dc4. Dc7. If that is all double crochet wouldn’t it be DC11 and of course there are not enough chains to do that. ??????????????
Sorry, that should say dc 7 in last ch.
