This week I started a series that is near and dear to my heart, Harry Potter! Oh how I love those books. I have wanted to make a HP Christmas tree for lots of years and decided this was the year I would work up all the pattern ideas on my running list.
Did you see my flying keys?
This little guy was so fun to design, I had several ideas for the wings and landed on this design. The secret is fabric stiffener!
I actually had a hard time finding gold yarn, I wanted something with metallic, instead of a matte yellow color. I also tried with metallic embroidery thread, but the kind I found was much thinner than regular DMC thread, so it was a bit problematic to work with. If you know of a fantastic metallic yarn, let me know!
