It’s hard to believe that Christmas and the holidays are around the corner. But it’s happening which means it’s time for us crafters to get working!

It’s been a while (other than the nativity CAL of course!) so this year I am hosting Christmas CAL.
We will be making darling little pouches to count down to the big day.

CHRISTMAS POUCH ADVENT CROCHET ALONG

For this CAL, we will be making treat pouches with holiday themed graphs! The pouches can then be filled with treats or notes and hung from the mantel or on the Christmas tree or on hooks (and anything else you can think of!)!
The CAL will includes 8 graphs, so creators will need to work 3 pouches of each design.

Crochet Along Dates:

Nov 23 – 24,
Nov 30 – Dec 4
Dec 7 – 8

This CAL will be spread out across 3 weeks to allow time to work your pouches as well as to allow for Thanksgiving prep for those who celebrate.

Crochet Along Materials

YARN:
We will be working with Palette yarn for this project. I love the rustic look and the vast color choices, plus the weight is perfect for making a small sized pouch while still making a graph with some detail.

Each pouch uses approx. 5 gm of fingering weight yarn (approx. 46 yards), making the total yarn for the entire project approx. 240 gms (1,110 yards)
Each ball of Palette is 50 gms.

I chose 8 balls to achieve more color variation to the project but feel free to find your own color way. In order to have enough yarn for your project, you will need at least 5 balls of Palette yarn.

Colors used:
Oyster
Serrano
Briar Heather
Garnet Heather
Shire Heather
Verdant Heather
Coriander heather
Turmeric

The CAL will include 8 graph designs:
Polar Bear
Mushroom
Snowflake
House
Evergreen Tree
Gnome
Wrapped Gift
Buffalo Plaid

Most of the graphs can interchange any color. However, if you are wanting to change your colors or buy fewer balls, some of the suggested colors are needed for best results on two of the graphs.
Polar Bear: Oyster, Coriander Heather and Briar Heather to make his snout and nose
Buffalo Plaid: Serrano, Shire Heather, and Garnet Heather to make the classic buffalo plaid pattern

HOOK:
Hook size and gauge are not super important to this project. I suggest a 3.5mm hook: try it out and see if you like the tension and adjust accordingly. Ideally, your fabric will be somewhat sturdy but not overly tight and stiff, as it will make the color work a bit difficult.

OTHER MATERIALS:
Hemp twine, to tie up bags
Scissors
Darning needle

TECHNIQUES YOU NEED TO KNOW

This project will use written instructions with standard US terminology, visual graphs, and written instructions for the graphs . You will need to know how to change and carry colors.
