It’s incredible how quickly time flies. We have been in our house for a year now, and Sis will be celebrating her first birthday this month. Although I don’t miss the long nights and crying from exhaustion (and I mean me crying, not the baby), I get a twinge of sadness when I pack away the tiny onesies and nightgowns. These crochet newborn booties were the first things I made her. Our mid-century house is sturdy and strong, but it’s spread out and can get a bit chilly at times. I wanted to make sure she was bundled up and warm, and these boots worked very well.
They are worked in the round so you can crochet a pair in less than a hour (probably faster, I am a rather slow crocheter!), which is important because you don’t want to spend a lot of time on a pair of booties that your baby will outgrow in a couple of weeks.
Literally.
I layered socks underneath these newborn booties, then tucked her little pants inside them. Even though they don’t have ties, I didn’t have any problems keeping them on her feet.
Those teeny, tiny feet!

This is such a cute pattern. I modified it slightly to make rain boots. I omitted the last round, changed the color at the top 2 rounds, and did a couple chain spaces to make handles. Thank you for publishing this! I’ll be using it all the time!
How darling! I love that idea!
Does this patten come in bigger sizes?
Not yet, I am sorry!
What dose the -4 in step three mean?
It means steps 3 through 4, work the same directions. The dash means through.
Excellent and easy! Now that I have this pattern down I can make a pair in less than an hour!
Wahoo! That’s awesome!
It’s so cute! Thank you for sharing the pattern! Could you please tell me if the stitch numbers in parentheses after each row are the number per row or the total number for the combined rows ? I am just starting and wanted something small that I could accomplish before trying bigger projects thank you!
Hello!
The stitch count is the total for that row.
Let me know if you need more help!
