Today I am excited to show share fun project I have been working on. It’s crazy how fast time flies between Thanksgiving and Christmas anymore, but as a child it seemed to drag on forever. We had a close family friend who would send a cute little Christmas coundown to my sisters and me each year. I can’t remember exactly how they looked, but they had 25 small cardboard doors, and behind each door was a piece of chocolate, smooth and creamy, and shaped like a Christmas character or shape. I had such fond memories of my chocolate advent that I wanted to keep the fun alive with my son. As I was making this Crochet Stocking Advent Calendar, I thought it would be even more fun to make it together as a group, so it will be the first-ever Whistle and Ivy Crochet Along.
How it will work:
I have written 9 patterns for cute crochet stockings. I love the look of the variations instead of each the same. Starting on Monday, Nov 9th, I will release a pattern each day, Monday through Thursday. You will make THREE of each pattern, resulting in 24 stockings. Then, on the last day, November 23rd, I will release the pattern for the larger Christmas Day stocking at the bottom, along with the quick and easy instructions for the board and hooks.
The patterns are not drastically different from one another, but they are each different enough to add variety to the advent. I have also started a Facebook Group called Whistle and Ivy Crochet Club. It will be positive place to share the stocking patterns, show each other our work, and hopefully be a place to make friends with like-minded crocheters. I would also love to see your own creativity as you make up your own color combos and styles!
I used Knit Picks Brava, and I chose a traditional and rustic color palette:
Red ~Dove Heather ~ Umber Heather ~ White ~Dublin
I loved how the yarn colors look together! I especially loved the Red with the Umber Heather (brown), very rustic and pretty for Christmas.
What you need:
- 5 Colors of Yarn, one ball each (Knit Picks Brava)
- H Hook
- Yarn Needle
- 25 Key Hooks
- Stain or Paint
- 16″ x 48″ board
You can find the patterns here:

I hope join me on this crochet along. And be sure to join the Facebook Group.
I am so excited to meet you in the group and to see your creativity on this project!
