I missed the velvet trend of the late 90’s. I admit, I wasn’t sure how much I loved it when it started coming around again. However, it has started to grow on me! I bought a couple skeins of Bernat Velvet without any particular plan for them.
All it took was a bit of skein squishing to realize this delicious yarn would be perfect for little something for a baby. I decided it would be perfect for a simple crochet baby lovey, so this velvet crochet bunny lovey was born.
The velvet yarn is a thicker weight, so this little lovey is a quick evening or weekend project. Also, it’s much easier to work with than other boutique/textured yarns. The stitches are more pronounce so I didn’t find it to be a challenge to work what in the least.
I decided to whip up a darling little crochet knot hat as well. It’s a darling set, and would be so cute for photos! The velvet knot hat is sized for a newborn.

xoxo,
I have made several things with the velvet yarn. I love the soft and squishy part of the yarn. The part that I had problems with, was the ends do not want to stay woven in. By nature of the slippery yarn, they slip out. I have had to use fabric glue to keep the ends from coming loose. The glue tends to put a hard spot on the yarn. Be careful when washing, it will loosen and there will be loops, sometimes long loops. No good for little babies!
