Hello everyone! Today I am sharing another crochet pattern, this Faux Ribbon Baby Hat. It’s so easy, definitely a beginner project (my very first crochet project was a hat!). I love making this little crochet hat for baby showers and other baby gifts, because it works up quick, it’s so cute, and it complete a set if you decide to make these mary jane booties as well.
I don’t have a gauge swatch, but if you make sure your circle by step 4 has a 3” diameter, you know your sizing will be on track. I have added a note in the pattern as well.

disregard my question. I looked at the beautiful baby again and see that her ears are covered
It looks in the picture that the baby’s ears aren’t covered. How long should I make it to cover the ears? Thank you
Thank you for this adorable pattern! What kind of glue do you use when gluing on the bow?
Hi Ann! I just used hot glue :)
You only gave instructions on how to make the ribbon and not the bow attached. Would you give instructions on the bow also please? BTW this hat is too cute!!
Thank you for letting me know! I added a link to my cute bows pattern.
I didn’t realize that for the 3-6 mo pattern it said to repeat rows 8-12! I went straight to the next step after row 8! So when I finished the hat it looked more like a yarmulke!!! Lol! No biggie, I’m just going to undo my work back to the end of row 8 and repeat it to row 12. Cute cute pattern!
Oh no! Haha! Glad you figured it out :)
Hi! A few questions on this awesome pattern! My first question is that I was struggling with the G hook because my tension is so tight when I crochet. I went up to an H and it is so much easier. Will the hat still work out? Also, I am thinking ahead to the ribbon. Do you finish the whole hat, crochet the ribbon, and then thread the ribbon through the treble crochet row? Thank you!
No problem! if it was super tight with the g, then your finished hat probably would have been too small. Yes, if you read through the pattern it will explain the ribbon, you make it first, then thread it through.
Thank you! I finished the hat, made the ribbon and threaded it through, and then made the bow. My problem is I don’t know how to secure the ribbon and bow! Do I sew them in? I can do the crochet stitches with no problem but the sewing is where I struggle!
Slip stitch the ends of the ribbon together and you can carefully hot glue the bow in place.
I made this for a friend’s upcoming baby shower. Its too stinking cute! Thank you for sharing the pattern.
Thank you! You are welcome!
