Crochet Pumpkin Wall Hanging
Projects have been slow going for the past few years. I’m trying to create content while savoring the last bit of time I have with my last child at home with me. It’s a tricky balance.
I was organizing my horrendously messy stash of yarn and projects and found this lovely wall hanging that I almost completed last year. I had originally wanted to add text with iron-on vinyl (like I did here), but later decided that cross stitch fit the folksy aesthetic a bit better.

ABOUT THIS PATTERN
I first made a tapestry wall hanging vertically and with the front sides of the stitches facing frontward a few years ago. It’s amazing how nice the stitches look when worked in a “cross stitch single crochet” –grabbing the yarn in the front instead of behind. It’s a subtle change but makes a huge difference! it looks nice but more importantly the stitches stack on top of each other in neat columns.
This no-turn method works best if you don’t mind having fringe along the bottom.
Weaving all the ends in would be… a big job.
WHAT YOU NEED:
Knit Picks Dishie
1 oz of brown acrylic worsted yarn
4.5mm Hook
18″ dowel or stick
Dull Darning Needle
Sticky Back Felt
Scissors
(Optional blocking materials: Water spray bottle, Heavy book and wax paper OR Blocking Board)
