Hi, do you have the pattern for a baby?
I don’t! But it wouldn’t be too hard to whip up. Let me see what I can do for you :)
Thank you!
Okay, I’m really confused and hoping you can help.
“. Join yarn and sc around the top of the band. One side is a bit more ‘frilly’ and that is the side I chose. Work about 3 sts over the 2 rows of 1 sc and hdc. Join with a sl st. (about 88 sts)”
1.Am I supposed to sc around what I’ve done so far, first?
2. Work about 3 sts over the 2 rows of 1sc and hdc….I am just completely lost on this.
Work about 3 stitches over…does that mean skip over 3 stitches?
Over the two rows of 1 single crochet (going back to my first question, does that mean I’m supposed to do 2 rows of sc on top of my band?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
You are making the band. Once it is sewn into a band, you will work across the top, and your stitches are going vertically, so you aren’t working into loops, you are working into the sides of the stitches. Does that make sense?
I am explaining how close to work them. Work 3 sts, for the two rows.
Oh! Okay, that makes things a lot more clear haha! Thank you!
Now, just to be clear on the row 2. Am I supposed to skip any stitches? It says to ch 3, hdc in first sp (ch 1 hdc in next sp) but I saw you comment to someone else that the 2nd row is meant to say stitches, so I’m curious if I’m supposed to : ch 3, hdc in first st (ch 1, sk st, hdc in next st). Instead of doing them all side by side.
I did the sc all around the band and now mine is starting to get wavy like some of the other commenters. That’s what made me ask about skipping stitches in the second row.
Thank you for your quick response!
Yes! sorry, I am actually right in the middle of rewriting this pattern and taking new photos. The first row you will be ch 1, sk 1 st, and hdc in next st. For the rest of the hat, you will work in the ch 1 sp from the previous round. I am sorry it is so confusing! I should have it fixed this week.
Lovely pattern .. is this an adult size or child? If adult, do you have one for a child / toddler?
Thanks!!
Thanks! This is adult size, but I can definitely make it for a child!
Sorry to bother you, but when you say in your directions for 2-23 hdc in first sp what exactly are you referring to by (SP) and do you skip each single crochet stitch, for example hdc in the first st, skip one, hdc in next st…..
Sorry that sounds really unclear i relized…. my question is do i need to skip stitches in round two, like crochet into every other round one single crochet??
Hi Nailah,
Sorry! I see now that it sounds a bit confusing. Sp means space. For round 2, you won’t have spaces yet, so read st=sp for round 2, but for 3-23, you will be working in the spaces you make when you work the ch, not in the loops of a stitch. Does that make sense? A bit like the way you would work a granny square, in the space, not the stitch.
Where do I get this pattern for the diagonal slouchy crochet hat??
This is a guest post, so click the pink link above the photo:

I love the looks of your hat but I’m having trouble with the pattern. I’ve done the ribbing plus 6 rows and my hat appears “wavy”. I don’t think it looks like yours. Any suggestions?
Hm. I’m not sure, can you email me a picture? Are you making sure you are working the chains and skipping stitches?
I have the same problem but I did not see to skip st, when should I do that?
You are skipping a st and chaining after each hdc on the body of the hat.
I absolutely love this look!!! But I’m a bit confused as to what the abbreviations [BLO] mean .. Any help & advice would help! Thank you so much!!
Thanks! That means back loops only.
I love the look of this hat, but I had trouble with the download. Your logo was covering the instructions. Is this only me? If you have any tips I would appreciate the help. Thanks
