This week was a bit crazy. Little Miss got her first-ever cold, which resulted in a few sleepless nights. Our happy little baby was terribly crabby, which is so completely unlike her that I feared the absolute worse for her health. Luckily, it was short lived and she is back to her giggly, smiley self today!
In the downtime with her, I have been brainstorming ideas for fall and winter.  I thought about this baby moccasin pattern I wrote a couple years ago. It didn’t turn out quite as I had hoped, but I published it anyway, but I have never been very happy with it. This week I decided to make the changes I had in mind for the pattern, and I am excited to share it with you!

These are lovely little booties for winter and fall. You can tighten the laces so they stay snug and in-place, and you can pull them over the bottom of your Little One’s pants to keep the chilly air away.

  1. I made a pair of these for my grandbaby. They are so cute and precious that my other daughter is begging me for a pair for her. Do you have a pattern in the works for an adult size? Do you think an average crocheter could fiddle with the pattern and enlarge to fit an adult? Thanks for all you do.

  2. I wholeheartedly agree. Paying for patterns and yarn are not usually a factor in the budget. I appreciate your talent and sharing it for all. The pattern for the sole of your shoes is the only one I’ve been able to memorize. I simply love all your patterns. I disagree with the others on the suggestion of removing the strap. I happen to also love the colors you used and have made a pair using practically the same. I think it may be that it’s an atypical color for a shoe and may be hard for some to ‘match up’ with an outfit. Anyway, thanks again! P.S. Great videos as well. When I first started out I had trouble with tension, but you’re the only one I’ve seen that holds the yarn like I do and it helped me to not give up.

  3. I have to give Virginia a gold star. I’m one of those people who treasures your beautiful patterns, because I save up the money to buy my yarn for my projects.
As for the booties, I think if you changed the colors around a bit that might make a difference. I think if I were to make them I would add a little fringe to the top, in a contrasting color, befitting the colors of the booties, of course.

I think that people throw the word LOVE around to casually these days. I love my son, and I am extremely grateful and appreciative that you share your beautiful and amazing designs. I always find something that I want to crochet from your site. You have my humble thanks.

  4. Re: your email for a suggestion for these booties. I agree with another poster to make in a different color, not necessarily bright, but maybe in a navy or dark blue. Or even red!

  5. Just read your request for ideas on these moccasin booties! I love the basic design, using a variety of colors might help. What about removing the top strap so you can see the lace up design and the stitching around the toes might look better in a thicker yarn? Or maybe double strands? How about a dark camel color with red trim? Thanks for all your hard work designing patterns!

  6. Thank you for making me look like I am much better at crocheting than I really am. You make exquisite, professional patterns that are easy to read and follow. I appreciate your generosity.

  7. Bethany, you asked for some comments on your little moccasins. I think the little moccasins are cute but how cute would they be as just the boot and laces (without the band) and red, orange and torquois fringe or beige around the top of boot and same colored tassels on top of shoe?

  8. Hi, I just received your latest newsletter where you ask for some ideas as these weren’t going well. It probably is because there are a few of these sorts already out there. Also they do look (sorry) a bit bland. Do some in vibrant colour and different coloured soles and laces. Well thats my 2 cents worth. Hope it helps a little. Thanks for the wonderful patterns.

I also wanted to say I really really loved your pink dog. Meme

  9. you asked for critical comments re poor sale for the booties. Mine is not critical – in fact I’m embarrassed to even offer the suggestion. I think you have too much of the contrasting cream color. If the laces were the same color as the basic booty and possibly no contrast outlining the strap, they would present as simpler and more attractive. I am not at all sure you need to change the strap outline, but you might try it. It may be that only the change in color of the “shoelaces”. would accomplish your purpose. And also the intense darkness of the booties is not appealing to me. Perhaps a dark purple, navy blue, or even burgundy would be better. I love the idea of being able to put the pants inside. And I failed to notice that at all because the presentation was not inviting?

  10. I look forward to trying this bootie pattern. I make a similar one, and parents like a tie that keeps the boot from slipping off. I agree with others, I like your style and ease of these patterns. I look forward to the weekly updates. I just made the snowfall hat for a little girl I tutor, in purple and Caron sparkle white. I made a white Pom Pom from your site also. It turned out so cute and I like that the patterns are multiple sizes.
    Thank you!!

  11. I agree with Virginia, very nice! Thanks for sharing your designs with us, I also purchased this PDF so that I can make several sets for friends & refer to the pattern whenever I need it.

  12. Hi I enjoy your patterns as I have made a few. I am struggling with the baby moccasins though. All of my numbers are right but when I get to row 7 I seem to lose it. The heel of my shoe comes out lopsided. Please help

  13. Hi! Good day! I’m a bit confused in toe strap for 9-12 mos. I really didn’t get it. :( I’m very sorry. Can you please send me some tips or video? Pretty please! I badly need this beautiful pattern you made. 😭 Many thanks and have a good day!

  14. Hi (^_^)/’
I just wanted to tell you that your designs are all so gorgeous! You have no idea how much we, the crochet community appreciates its designers although i do have to mention that designers like you who share your designs for free are the true rockstars of our community!!. You are such a wonderful person, you do this from your heart and EVERYONE no matter what their monetary situation may be, can make their children and loved ones a gorgeous gift they will cherish. I know many fellow “hookers” who can barely afford to buy yarn because tthey’re single mothers,on disability, supporting nieces/nephews and grandchildren etc… all love to crochet but are not able to purchase patterns after purchasing their yarn. For so long the free patterns out there were.. Ok… but not as beautiful as the majority of paid patterns. Then came designers like you…. You have given such gorgeous patterns freely out of the goodness of your heart and have saved many from having to make the usual shawl or blanket. You are a Gem of a person and one hell of a designer and on the behalf of hookers everywhere i’d like to Thank You for all that you do and have done for us!!!

    1. Hi Virginia,
Thank you SO much for your kinda words. You are so sweet! It completely made my day. I am so happy that people love and use my patterns, it makes everything worthwhile!

Thanks again for taking the time to comment, it was a bright and cheery way to start my week :)
