It’s actually for ALL of you, but since I have a sole video on my Youtube channel, I have gotten questions about how to find the basic baby sole pattern on my blog. I did the videos separately so that I wouldn’t have to keep shooting myself making the sole for each shoe pattern. I decided to write this up so it can be found easier! This pattern is for the basic baby sole.
The sole is found in each pattern on my blog, but many people are viewing the video and using it to make their own creations! If you make up your own (or make anything using my patterns, too!), I would love to see it! Post it on my Facebook page or post it on Instagram and hashtag #mywhistlecrochet or tag me @whistleandivy. I love to see what you do with the patterns! My reader are so creative, I love seeing your work!

Remember, you can find full written patterns for all my baby shoes here, but if you just wanted the sole to reference, maybe this will be helpful to you! I added this so I could quickly let people know how to access the sole pattern only.

Cheers,

I am beyond tickled that I stumbled upon your website. I was desperately trying to find a simple yet flexible pattern for baby shoe soles and there you were all along just waiting for me to find you. Your patterns are so easy to understand yet they yield such beautiful results and I’m an absolute beginner to all this. The first pair I made was the Lemon Drop and they came out perfect! Thank you, thank you for sharing these wonderful patterns and tips you are a Godsend!
This is wonderful to hear Laurie! So glad you found my site useful!!! You are very welcome!
I just want to say thank you. I some what new to crocheting. I have always had trundle finding and understanding patterns. Your are very helpful and easier for me to understand. And free. Lol that helps when you are not sure what your doing… Thank you again.
That is wonderful to hear, you are very welcome!
I am a beginner. When you say “work 3 times” do you mean 3 MORE times?
No, work 3 total times. This is why I never use the word “repeat” in my patterns. One repeat means 2 times, and this is very confusing in my opinion.
Hi Bethany ~ I want to thank you for the wonderful pattern.I use it routinely to start various baby shoes, and this sole pattern makes it so easy! I’m particularly a fan of your video that got me over a few humps at the beginning, until I became comfortable with the routine of the pattern. Many thanks!
You are very welcome!
Hi. Im trying to learn how to make the baby flipflops. I was wondering whats the second choice of size hook if you dont have a 3.75? I have a 3.5 & 4.
I would suggest using one of your hooks to make a gauge swatch and go from there! the hook is only a suggestion, you should make a gauge swatch so you have a better idea.
Ok so my question is the soles definitely seem to have one side that has more of an indent for the inner part of the foot. So is there a reversed pattern for the other side? Or do people just do the same pattern for both sides?
There is no indent, the toe and heel should be perfectly round. The sides are straight you have a semicircle for the toe and a smaller semicircle for the heel.
Do you have a 12 to 24 month shoe sole pattern?
Yes, but I don’t have a blog post for it. If you go to any of my toddler patterns, the sole is the first 4 rounds.

Hello, do u have the baby bubble bootie in newborn size? Thank you
I don’t, I am sorry! I only have the 0-3 months.
Where to find written pattern of sole for 1 to 2 years baby??
I don’t have just a sole pattern for toddlers, but you can use the sole from one of my toddler slipper patterns. The sole is the first 4 rounds:

Hi Bethany,
Thanks for the patterns. It seems that 2 stitches are missing in the heel of the 9-12 months pattern. I believe the repeat at the heel should be 4 times, and then the stitch count works. What do you think?
Thanks,
Taran
The current counts are correct. Did you have 38 sts on row 2? You increase by 3 on the heel and 5 on the toe (8 sts) you get 46 for row 3.
Thanks for the reply, Bethany. What you’re saying about increases makes sense, but somehow, two stitches seem to be missing in the row 3 directions. Maybe missing hdc’s on each side?
The sides stay the same (11 sts), and the stitch count changes when you work the increases around the toe and heel. For instance, if you worked one stitch in each stitch around, you would have the same stitch count as row 2, 38 sts. You are working 3 extra stitches around the heel, and 5 extra stitches around the toe. With the increase, there are 9 sts around the heel, 11 stitches up the side, 15 sts around the toe and 11 sts down the other side which equals 46 sts. Are you understanding the increases?
Thanks for your help. I’ve got it now! I appreciate your patience and care.
You’re welcome!
