We are in the last few weeks of pregnancy and it’s been weird with this one. I remember feeling the urge to do some nesting with my other kids, but this one is rather fierce. I had my editorial calendar planned out for about 6 months, but couldn’t bring myself to start (or finish once I started) any of those great crochet pattern ideas, unless it would be going in the nursery, or be for baby boy.

My brain has gone completely rogue and has been filled with lots of boho baby ideas, I am just getting pulled along!

I did a bit of macrame growing up, mostly just those twisty bracelets made from hemp, but I haven’t tried it again since. I really wanted to put some of these cute, fringy macrame rainbows in the baby’s room, but decided to take the opportunity to make some with yarn and a hook.

CROCHET RAINBOW- CROCHET PATTERN

Oh yarn, you never disappoint.

These turned out so cute! Once I got the counts worked out, making a pile of these was a breeze. They look adorable and fun hanging from the baby gym Dallas built when Cubbie was born, but I think I might pull them off and make them into a mobile to hang above the bassinet.

Or make a few more and do both.

I have a few other crochet-around-rope projects I am working on and have been rather obsessed with finding lovely cotton rope to use. I am working with some thick jute right now, and have completed a few pattern prototypes with clothesline! It’s been fun trying out all the different textures.

Patterns for these ideas are forthcoming, as they are for the baby’s room too.
