I’ve been spiraling out a bit with some plant purchases lately. Unfortunately I am not super great at keeping plants alive, so this has been an ongoing mental battle of whether I should bring more unsuspecting plants into my home or not.

Along with potted plants, I also bought a slew of air plants, which are SO fun. Cubbie screeches with delight when I let her hold one in her chubby little hand.

While I was brainstorming ideas for displays for these air plants, I thought how deliciously adorable it would be to have a tiny, miniature-sized belly basket!

Everything is so cute as a miniature version!

I found this extremely tiny (only 4 oz!) pot with some kind of baby palm in it (do you know what it is? I thought Cat Palm but I am not sure!)
Not sure how it will look a week from now, but currently it looks adorable in it’s size-matched crochet belly basket.

  1. Really cute pattern. The palm is a Parlor Palm. They can grow to a pretty good size, so it won’t stay in that wee pot for long. You’ve probably found that out by now, though.

    1. Ah thank you! I tried my very best but it did not make it :( I may have overwatered it. It seemed so thirsty! But even though it was thoroughly watered, it dried up and died. Ah!

      1. That’s odd. Those can be grown in the backs of aquariums with their roots submerged in water all the time. I avoid putting most houseplants in little pots because they rarely do well, and I have a green thumb for houseplants! Too dry here in Arizona, so little pots dry out really fast! I just can’t keep up with their watering needs, unless I stick them in my aquariums. No problem then. Ha!

        1. I have a special knack for killing plants 😬 it may have been the pot though. I repotted so maybe I picked the wrong soil and that is what killed it. So far my best plants are my snake plant (of course!), a money tree and a pony tail palm. Fingers crossed, haha

          1. Sounds like me with cacti. I’m great with houseplants, but I’m agonizing death to cacti. LOL

  2. I would like to purchase this pattern, but first, is it true, as the comments indicate, that there is an error in the pattern in row 10?
    Thanks for your help!

  3. I think Row 10 should read- Ch1. Hdc in next 6 sts. Work 2 hdc in next st *Hdc in next 10 sts, work 2hdc in next st* wotk from * to * 3 times. Hdc in next 4 sts. Join. (48 sts). As written, “work 2 hdc in next 10 sts” work 3 times would be way too many sts.
