I’ve always been a rule-follower.
At times when growing up, this personality trait has served me. But now it can get in the way of creativity.
Someone, somewhere did something a certain way and my brain defaults to believing that is the only way it should be done
This past year has been transformative both personally and professionally and subsequently I have found myself breaking out of the should mindset I have lived with for so long, which has brought a renewed perspective for my crochet designs. I have given myself permission to try something a different way, which sounds silly here, but it’s truly something I needed to learn.
This crochet camper wall hanging uses a few different ideas, mainly no turning, which I first saw at Alessandra from Just be Happy Crochet.
I also used a slightly different sc to make the stitches line up properly, and had to do some design finagling to make sure the strings were on the correct side.
Add some heat transfer vinyl and you’ve got magic.

This spring we bought a 20-year old camper. I grew up tent camping, and have countless fond memories of snuggling in sleeping bags, listening to the pattering rain on the top of our tents, and chilly, crisp mornings making a mad dash to the latrine.
But I have apparently grown soft and squishy in my old age and sleeping on the cold, wet ground doesn’t sound so appealing anymore 😆.
The camper is old but in good condition, so I wanted to give it a few easy modern touches with some fresh paint and updated hardware (it goes such a long way!)
Mainly, I couldn’t wait to find a place to hang this crochet camper wall hanging!
