Full Bio
Want to know more about me? I am just a small town girl.
I grew up in rural Utah to amazing parents. The older I get, the more amazing they are.
My mom majored in ballet in college, which is freaking cool, and she outsells everyone at her job at the phone company. Like a boss. My dad helps people with addictions and disabilities, which is also freaking cool.
I have one older sister, and two younger sisters. Two of my sisters are bloggers too! Meet Caitlin of Salty Willows here and Shonee of Hawthorne and Main here! I love them all so much!
After I graduated high school, I went to a junior college that was about an hour away from my home town. It was a really great transition and I encourage people to do it, if possible. Unfortunately, it puts you about a semester behind than going straight to a four-year university, but it was the absolute most fun I had ever had. And because it was relatively close to home, I was able to get a home-cooked meal pretty easily.
After graduating, I went to the University of Utah (GO UTES). I graduated in electronic journalism. I have always known that I love to write, but I didn’t really want to be a journalist. I wanted to be a lawyer. But in my very last semester of college, I took a magazine writing class.
I fell in love.
I loved magazine writing. I hated hard news, but I LOVED writing feature stories.
So my plans for law school fell through, which is actually okay, because I took a practice LSAT and got a 145 (not a great score).
I also fell in love with something else. Someone else. My husband, Dallas!
We actually met at the junior college. We both moved away, he was going to helicopter school in Provo, UT, and I was going to the U in Salt Lake City. Even with the distance, we still made it work and were married in the Salt Lake City Temple.
It was awesome and I felt like a princess.
Then, after several moves for Dallas’s job, we moved out of state to Nevada. Dallas flew tours for the Grand Canyon and I was a stay-at-home mom. (Oh yeah, we had a baby!) I fell in love with him the first time I held him. He is totally rad. BONUS: He has his daddy’s face.
A couple years later we got a job in Utah, closer to family and back in the freezing climate. But we are so happy, and I am glad to have seasons again!
