This cute crochet chevron hat is made up of single crochet stitches and alternates between two colors to make up the graph creating a stunning chevron effect. The pattern includes a link to a helpful video that shows how to easily change colors and read the graph. Welcome to Day Three of our Christmas Gifts in July. This pretty hat is another color work project. I am hoping that you have tried it and are hooked on this fun technique. (If you haven’t tried crochet color work yet, be sure to watch the video below, it’s easier than you think!).

This graph is quite simple and only alternates between 2 colors, making it one of the simplest color work graphs you can find. But the finished effect is stunning!

  1. Hi I saved a pin to make the free chevron hat crochet pattern. But there are no links to the free pattern. Only what you will need to make the hat. My granddaughter loves this hat we went and bought all the yarn colors and now no pattern. Please help.

    1. Hi Brittany! Are you asking if you need to slip st to join? Yes, you will join with a sl st. To make the seam less noticeable, I have found that if you change color on the last st (the color you will use in the next round) it looks a bit nicer.

  2. Hello. I purchased the single pattern from Ravelry. I read in another comment about a video tutorial. Is there a link to the video or is it only through your Endless Bundle?

    1. Hi Shannon! Currently my videos are only in the Endless Bundle, but if you have a specific question about the pattern, I would be more than happy to assist you. Please let me know how I can help!

  3. For aome reason the hat body i made is very unstretchy when pulled horitzonally. Vertically is stretches really well. I’m making this as a baby hat and would like some stretch so it will fit for a while. Any advice?

        1. Thanks, glad you like it!
The larger yarn coupled with only slightly larger hook will make your stitches tighter, that could be most of the problem. Tighter stitches mean less stretch. I wrote the pattern with #4 worsted, so if you happen to have any on hand, you could maybe try with that, and then make sure to start with a gauge swatch so you know which hook to use.

  4. This hat is great. I am making many different sizes for the not forgotten box for the kids and adults. I am using up all my scrap yarn. Looks like I will have at least 200.
It is nice I can help people who need hats for the cold weather in Ohio.
