These darling crochet air plant pots are a simple design and a lovely, bright way to display your cute air plants! The pattern includes 3 sizes, so all air plants will have a perfect sized pot. This post contains affiliate links. Thank you for supporting Whistle and Ivy!

Last month I was gifted a fairly large air plant. It’s lovely but a bit mysterious (no soil, no roots?!) and it’s been sitting on the widow sill next to my cactus. I haven’t given it too much thought until I saw this fabulous Crochet Air Plant Jellyfish by One Dog Woof. So cute, right? Although an air plant can be perfectly happy and healthy sitting bare on the bright windowsill, it is a bit fun to make a crochet pot for it.

Because air plants range in different sizes, I included 3 sizes, so hopefully you can make a pot that fits your air plant perfectly. You can also make them taller or shorter depending on the plants you have.

These adorable little guys are of the genus Tillandsia, and have over 650 species! They absorb water and nutrition from their leaves, not roots, so they don’t need soil and have been affectionately nicknamed “air plants.” They do need water, however, depending on your climate you can soak them occasionally or spritz them with water. I bought mine from Amazon and they were on my doorstep in 48 hours! They were green and happy and I am hoping I can take good care of them (the seller I bought from sent fertilizer spritz and a handy care sheet). I have kept my cactus green and healthy for 2 years now, so I am thinking I might be able to branch out a bit. Air Plants are great for us “black-thumb” folks.
Ahem…

  1. Thanks for this very nice looking pot. Great for our air plants–but could be used for lots of other places at home/work/etc. Love the colors you used.
