  1. Hello, I’m not new to Crochet and I feel stupid for asking this question. What does it mean where it says 2. -36? Thank You

  2. I bought your plaid book and am ready to start my first pair of boot cuffs. My daughter’s calf measures 15″. According to a boot cuff chart I found on Pinterest. She is a medium and the boot cuff circumference should be 13-14″. Your pattern says 11″ unstretched According to the chart yours would be small. Will your 11″ boot cuffs stretch to fit a 15″ calf or should I make the ribbing 13-14″ as the chart says? I am using Impeccable yarn. Please reply soon, as these are for Christmas. I love the plaid patterns, I made a cowl last month, after watching a You Tube tutorial about six times, discovered the plaid is not all that complicated. Thanks.

    1. Hi Patsy! 11″ should be able to stretch several inches, this is a “pre-stretch” measurement. If you can gently pull your band and it measure 14″-15″, you should be good!

    1. I actually got them at my local IFA (a farming store). I had a few people inquire, but I can’t seem to find them anywhere. They are about 4 years old, so they might not be in stores anymore. I am sorry!

  3. I am having a hard time understanding the instructions to begin the cuff, I can’t quite wrap my head around the ribbing. Do I make a foundation chain the width of my calf? In multiples of 6? Not new to crochet, but this is one of the more advanced patterns I have attempted. Thanks is. And I love your work.

    1. Hi Mandy!
The ribbing is worked to be a very narrow, tall piece, but you will turn it and the ribbing will be vertical. So to make your cuffs larger, you will make it “taller”. Does that make sense? The ribbing is worked horizontally, because your rows are horizontal, but you will actually join it into a ring and the ribbing will be vertical when it’s done.

      1. Ok, I understand the concept, but not the pattern for it. Thanks. I am sure I can work something. Am I supposed to have ribbing on both ends or just one end?

  4. Bethany thank you for sharing all of your plaid patterns. After I saw the plaid boot cuffs I used the plaid pattern to make a scarf for my niece. She loved the pattern!

  5. Sorry, I’m JUST beginning. Does The yarn come in red and black in skein?? Or 2. Different skeins?? Probably a dumb question. But I don’t know, so I’m gonna ask. Thank you. Love Everything.

  6. Love the boot cuffs. If the 11″ is not quite big enough (my fat thighs :) ), how many do I increase the ribbed band by? I know with the cowl scarf you needed to increase 6 stitches. Thanks! Love all your ideas.

    1. Thank you! You can use your leg as a guide. Make them a bit smaller than your legs and be sure to test your leg with jeans/leggings on for an accurate fit.

      1. Bethany, I think what she’s asking is if she needs to increase the band by multiples of 3 or 6 to adjust for the plaid stitch. I, for example, added two extra rows to the band. How will this affect my plaid stitches?

Thanks for these amazing plaid patterns! These buffalo plaid colors just happen to be the team colors for my kids’ middle school and high school.

          1. Thanks so much for the clarification! Since I added 2 rows to the band, I just added 6 stitches for my first row, so 54 stitches instead of 48. So far, it is working perfectly and I can’t wait to finish this wonderful project. I am just a little obsessed with buffalo plaid! ;)

  7. I love all your plaid designs, I am working up the courage to try the hat and fingerless gloves. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
