Free Crochet Pattern: Crochet Chevron iPad Mini Case | Crochet this adorable chevron pouch for your iPad! Easily size up or down for all your devices.

Happy Wednesday, friends! Last week I decided to get organized (which is normally an exercise in futility), but I chose to start small and simply organize my crochet ideas for the next few months. It’s amazing how useful lists can be! I wrote a nice, long list of potential ideas for the summer/early fall and I am working on crossing them off. I have finished two ideas already, so I hope this will be a fun, crochet-filled summer for me (and of course, for you too!). This pretty little Chevron Crochet Tablet Pouch was on my list and came together beautifully (it’s so nice when that happens). It’s SO nice to cross it off.

For this pouch I used two colors of Comfy Worsted and one color of Shine Worsted (both amazingly soft cotton blends). I put “Whisker” in the materials list when I actually used a limited edition Comfy Heather. It isn’t available anymore, but Whisker is a very beautiful gray, and it very close in color, so that one would work perfectly, too.

Note: You can easily size the pattern up or down! To do this, have your device handy. Work a foundation chain this is slightly wider than your device, and is an even number. Work row 2 (adjusting for your original chain count). The width of this row should be the exact width of your device. If it’s too wide, count how many extra sts you have, and minus that from your original foundation chain.

Holding it so the top points up, start on the bottom right. Using one of your three colors, join yarn and sc as evenly as you can up the side, sewing the side together. Continue past the two layers and sc up the top flap. Sc 2 in the top corner so it lays nicely. Sc across the top, working 5 sc in the 3 ch space from the last row. Sc in the rest of the sts, working 2 in the next corner. Sc down the remaining side of the flap and tie off.
Weave in your ends.

  1. I’m going to try this with cotton to an Amazon Fire 10. I’d like to add a sturdy strap. Any suggestions on how to make it?

  2. It’s so cute. I need a small quick project. I think it would also make a great scarf pattern.

  3. Love this! I added a thin strap to mine and the teen recipient was delighted.
    Thanks for sharing the pattern!

    1. Sorry, I wrote that in a rather confusing manner. You will work row 40 and 41, same as the others, you will just reverse the color order so when the flap lays over the front of the pouch, it appears continuous.

  4. Hello Bethany!
Thank you so much for sharing this pattern! I’m making a pouch for my EpiPens and this was one of the few pouches in the Chevron pattern that I could find! I will have to probably do some adjustments to the width and length based on your stitches per inch, but otherwise, I’m excited to get started!!

I hope you had crossed off many items off your list that summer!
    Happy crocheting!

  5. Hi Bethany, thank you for this tutorial, it’s so cute! I just wanted to let you know though that I had to make some adjustments to make it fit an iPad mini 4 – I needed to add a bit of width and quite a lot of height. I don’t actually have an iPad so I’m going off the dimensions on the internet, fingers crossed it fits!

      1. Yes, when I checked it was 8 stitches across to 2″. I ended up needing 13 stripes… but like I said I have not checked with the actual iPad yet!

  6. I really like this pattern. Thank you for sharing it with us. Can we us this pattern as disposable wipes case cover? Or, Do you have a different pattern?

    1. Thanks! You probably could! It’s made for diapers and wipes, which is a big thicker, so maybe work a few less chains on your foundation.

  7. One of my goals is to learn how to crochet. I love this tutorial. I am saving it for later. Thanks for linking up to The Creative Exchange. We will be featuring your project this week.

  8. I absolutely love this! So pretty and convenient! Do you have any problems with the yarn scratching the screen? Thanks for sharing your tutorial with us at Merry Monday this week!
