Have you even worked with polymer clay? My parents gave me some as a child with some bead and shape molds. I really had a lot of fun with it. I remember the clay was pretty stiff and I had to work it in my hands for several minutes before it was malleable. Since grade school, I hadn’t really tried working with it again, but I am glad to find out that the new polymer clays are much softer and easier to work with! I decided to make some easy geometric beads for earrings and polymer clay proved to be the perfect medium.

What you need:

Earring Findings
Polymer Clay
Sucker Stick
Hot Glue
Pliers

Start by making a “mold.” If you want to free-hand your triangles, that is okay! I just made several pairs of these and wanted make sure all the triangles were uniform.

Take a sucker stick and push a divot into the top. Bake it at 275º for about 10 minutes.

Glue the stick to the triangle and use it make shape outlines in a flatten piece of clay, about 1/8”.

Using the shapes as a guide, cut them out with a sharp knife.

Gently  twist and push a toothpick into each triangle to make a hole for the jumpring. Once they are all cut, put them in the oven and bake. Bake for about 10 minutes at 275º.

Once they are cool, you are ready to assemble your earrings! First, using your pliers, twist the bottom of the earring finding 90º so they are perpendicular.

Add a jumpring and two lengths of chain onto the earring in an odd amount so the triangle bead faces forward. I did 5 and 9.

Attach a jumpring through each triangle, and attach each bead to one end of the chains.

I also made these earrings with circles, and I liked how they turned out as well.
