Free Crochet Pattern - Women's Chunky Boat Slippers | Make these comfy slippers, the perfect cozy slippers to wear all-year-round.

I hope you have been enjoying our Slipper CAL! Today I am sharing my contribution, the Women’s Chunky Crochet Boat Slippers.

This past week, I began my morning routine which starts with feeding our dog, Goose. I usually fill his water bowl in the afternoon, because in the morning it’s still half-full. However, this particular morning, it was almost empty so I paused, taking a split second to decide whether to get his food first, or fill his water bowl first. Unfortunately, I paused with my ankle “holding” the storm door open, (which was open all the way) and it came crashing into my leg and ankle.
Ouch.
Needless say, I have been unable to wear shoes for over a week, as they rub right on the very sore wound on the back of my foot. So I have been wearing sandals in 40º weather outside, and rushing back inside, putting on my new Chunky Crochet Boat Slippers.
Thankfully,  these babies are comfy!

I have been sitting on the idea of crocheting my original Women’s Boat Slippers with chunky yarn for a while, and I knew this CAL was a great time to make the pattern happen. I love the chunky texture! I have been wearing mine around our house since I finished a pair in my size.

3. Ch 2. Dc in same st. Hdc. Sc 3. *Sc. 2 sc in next st.* repeat 5 times. Sc 3. hdc. dc in last st.

Turn 90º so you are working across the flap top of the flap. Ch 1. (work sideways across the last dc. Sc 8. Tie off.
Leave a long tail.

Sew the flap in place using a smaller hook and the tail of the flap. Use a simple running stitch. To keep things neat and even, you can pin the flap in place before sewing. Since the dc stitches on the top of the post make the flap flair out, sew this part using an overcast stitch, and let the edge of the flap sit on the top of the side, instead of meeting flush with the side (as with the rest of the shoe). This will give it a bit of a moccasin-style look, but it keeps the flap secure at the edges.

To finish:
Take a length of your 1st color yarn, and push the end up through the hole at the top of the strap. Using a hook, weave it in and out of the top of the shoe, stitching across the top. Pull the end up and out the hole on the other strap.

  1. If I wanted to use this pattern combined with flip flops, would I start with the row you change colors? I have been looking for patterns I like but can’t find many using flip flop soles.

  2. I have been having trouble with row 6. I’ve tried soooooo many times and when I get to the HDC, DC 8, HDC will not fit at the heal. I have all the correct stiches from row 5 , (54) and everything else is correct..I need help!

      1. Those stitches will not fit into that row because the last stitch number 12 goes goes to the 1st stitch. I finish stitch 12 at heel

          1. I am sorry, I am working in the 7th row, after the second strap, I can only get 12 stiches in there to the end not these last instructions (Hdc 2. Sk next st. Hdc in next st. Hdc. Sk next st. Hdc in next st. Hdc 5. Dc2tog 4 times. Hdc. Join.
Tie off and weave in ends.) I just can not make this equation fit.
            Soory about my confussion!

          2. For row 5, did you work the hdc and dc around the heel? On row 6, those stitches should kine up with the heel stitches from row 5. Are you working the straps? maybe send me a photo, I’m not sure how to help.

  3. Hi there. I’m working on row 6 as well and the second chain 5 is ending up not being directly across from the other chain 5. Are they supposed to be more diagonal from one another?? I’m working on the size 8.

      1. I did it! I did it!! Thanks so much for hour response. I just needed to go
A bit slower and really be sure if my counts. Two young children in quarantine and then Christmas break didn’t give me a lot of good space to count. Ha!! These are so cute!!

    1. I had problems with row 6 as well not coming out directly across from each other. Even after 3 tries so I adjusted the stitches a little to get it to work for me.

  4. I have been trying to make size 10 wide boat slippers. I’m needing to know how to change this bigger cause you only go to 9

  5. love the look of these slippers, but having trouble with row 6 if I do all the sts & repeats I have too many stitches. Which star do I repeat from as there are 2 in the line. these plus sc 12. Hdc.Dc8.Hdc makes too many ty for help

  7. Thank you for the pattern. I need to make some of these this weekend, we’re starting to have cooler mornings finally.

  8. I love these slippers! I’m still somewhat new to crochet, so I’m wondering how to make size 10 ladies. Go up a hook size??

    Any help is appreciated! :)

  9. I’m working on row 6 of the size 8&9 and I don’t know why I’m not getting the right amount of stitches. Is there something I’m doing wrong?
