I am not really one to decorate for Valentine’s Day, but for some reason I felt very festive this year. I think it might be because this is the first year being homeowners and I have a mantel to fill with pink and red (It has been pretty bare since I took down all the Christmas stuff). Since I literally had nothing to put on it, these easy Valentine’s Day Lovers’ Initials worked out great.

You will need:

Chunky Wood Letters
Fake Flowers
Hot Glue Gun
Acrylic Paint
Top Coat
Sand Paper

Start with you chunky wood letters. Sand them a little bit before painting to smooth any rough parts.

You can opt to paint them all one color, but I decided to do the edges a different color. I admit, it was a bit time consuming and tedious! But I love how they turned out with the two tones, so it was worth the extra work. Tape off the edges so you don’t have to be careful with the top.

After the top is dry, start on the sides. I couldn’t figure out how to tape it do be honest! I just carefully painted, and knew I would be sanding the edges a bit once they were dry.

Once they are all dry, sand the edges for a shabby chic look, and finish with your top coat. Heat up your glue gun.

I found these roses at the dollar store, and they worked perfectly for this project! Pull them off the stems.

Laying them kind of on their sides, glue three (or however many it takes) flowers down the side of the letter. Stop when you have room for one more at the bottom.

Glue the last flower pointed down, the opposite way as the other ones.

I finished with a glitter top coat for the ampersand. Glitter just felt right, you know?
