This week, Chelsea from Get Your Crap Together gave me the opportunity to review her Back 2 School Pattern Pack. Can I just say, awesomesauce?!
Let me preface this by saying that I am NOT a seamstress. I have been sewing for several years now, and I have zero talent for the craft. But this crayon roll-up is easy as pie! Look how cute that turned out!
Chelsea's Back 2 School Pattern Pack comes with 9 patterns to help you get organized for the beginning of the school year. The pattern pack includes a pencil pouch, coin purse, crayon and pencil roll ups, art kit, lunch tote, sandwich bags and cold pack, and traveling back sack.
Since the junk drawer has been the permanent home for all The Boy's colored pencils and crayons, I knew exactly which pattern to make. At first, I was like "eh, even if I just make one and get the crayons organized, that will at least be a step in the right direction." Then, when I realized 10 minutes later that I had completed the project, I made two more! I bought three fat quarters in contrasting colors and I had enough fabric to make all three, so it worked out perfectly.
This pattern is also easily customizable. I changed the slot widths, so it would hold more crayons and keep a firmer grip, and for my pencil roll-up, I made it a few inches longer to accommodate an 18 colored pencil pack.
As of now, the Boy enjoys taking out all his crayons and putting them back in the slots more than actually coloring with them. But hey, who am I to judge what fun is?
