Kansas

The Boy and I took a trip to Kansas this week.

Some friends of ours moved there recently, and I have been meaning to go visit for several months. My husband gets stand-by tickets with his job, so I used one to fly out there. I have to say...it was scary! I planned on coming back Thursday, but actually couldn't get home until Saturday. Also, our flight had a lay-over in Denver, so I just had to hope that the flight could fit us.
FYI:
For anyone who plans on flying stand-by, the best days to fly are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday. I assumed that week-days would be best, but, apparently, Monday and Thursday, which are the days I picked, are actually the worst.

My Sunshine did AMAZING! He played or slept most of the flights. He got fussy only for a little bit, but fellow passengers graciously helped keep him entertained.

I have to admit, I pictured Kansas as being a desolate wasteland.
Although it is VERY flat, it still has beauty.

...and also hay fields in the middle of town.

It was a very fun trip, we took the kids to the pool, the zoo, the park, and just had fun hanging together.

Miss you guys already!

Labor Day Fun

Sometimes it's nice to get away, even just for a few hours!
For Labor Day, we took a day trip for some swimming and BBQ at Willow Beach on the Colorado River. It was good food (Jalapeno Brats) and good company. Plus the Boy LOVED the water!

Our friends brought a dog and he was fascinating to our lil' wild child. But he hasn't really learned to "be soft" so he needed help giving some gentle pets.

Look at the cute family in the background!

The Boy was also very fascinated with all the rocks. He kept diving into the water, grabbing for them. They must have looked quite tasty. We had to watch him like a hawk or he would have had a belly full of river stones.

He had loads of fun just sitting in the shallow water, splashing and gathering sand and rocks.

The water was actually kinda cold. I just put my feet in, but he was really having a blast. He was giggling and shrieking like a little banshee, it was so cute!

This past month has been pretty eventful for this little guy; he not only finally cut his first tooth
(he refuses to let me get a picture), but he is walking around like he owns the place. He is growing way too fast.
