Decoupage Dresser

I have had this old dresser since I was a child. It is very old and actually belonged to by great-grandmother. I finally decided to refinish it. It has been in need of some TLC for a while, but I just never had the time or the motivation to do it. A friend of mine gave me the idea to decoupage sectionals onto the top (a sectional is a map that pilots use to do flight plans). It actually worked out really well...

The second try.

Just a little FYI for anyone wanting to decoupage, it only works if you apply paste to the paper, not to the furniture. I probably could have found this out on a million how-to websites, but I guess my MO is to dive in, head first, and end up redoing things. Oh well.

Forgive the before picture, I took it after I had lugged it downstairs and I had left the drawers upstairs. Have I mentioned my laziness? Yes, I was too lazy to walk upstairs and put them back in for the picture.

My little Ute

I had to post a pic of The Boy showing off his (my) school spirit! Found this little number at a Savers in Nevada. Nice to know there are Utah fans all over!

Go Utes!

Revamped Lamp

Sometimes I just get sick of all the things that we have! Same couch, same table, same white walls...

I have been on this kick lately. I have been trying to find ways to switch up our stuff a little bit. I am currently working on a dresser for The Boy and will post before and after pics as soon as it's done.  I have been wanted to change up this lamp we have, and I found myself with a few extra minutes for a quick project.

It was just a very plain lamp shade and I wanted to add a little character. Two of my favorite things are buttons and ribbon, so I decided to just quickly glue a piece of ribbon to the top and to the bottom.

It is definitely not a huge difference, but just enough to keep me happy for a little while!
Cheers!
