I started making baby food for my little rugrat, and to be honest, I was quite intimidated at first. Little did I know how EASY it is.
All you do is peel and chop any fruit or vegetable you want to make. I use a steamer but you can put about an inch of water in the bottom of a pan and steam your veggies/fruits that way. When they are tender, pull them out, let them cool for a bit and then puree them in your processor or chopper. You can use fancy baby food freezer containers but I, being the cheapo that I am, heard from a friend to use ice cube trays. They are PERFECT. Each cube is 1 oz, which makes it so simple to heat back up and you can portion your baby's food perfectly so none goes to waste. Also, some foods like avocado and banana don't even need to be steamed, so you can simply put the raw fruit into your processor and fill your trays.
It does take some time and effort, but fresh, delicious baby food is well worth it! I like to even add a little cinnamon or other spices to train my LO's pallet (after thawing a portion).
Have fun with it!
